Following two highly successful conferences in China (March 16-18, March 19-21) two ICF presidents have continued to explore and support the growth of camp and camp education across this vast nation. Alongside Marco Reyes (ICF Treasurer living in China) and Ruth Feng (ICF Board Regional Representative in China), ICF was well represented at these and other events.

8th CCEA Conference

The Children’s Camp Education Alliance held its eighth Conference (and first in-person event since COVID pandemic) at Chongli – site of many ski and hill events of the 2022 Winter Olympics. Presentations and workshops covered a wide range of topics.

2nd China-Russia Expo

The Institute for Camp Education hosted the second China-Russia Expo and Business Forum. Almost 100 visitors from Russia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Singapore and Canada met with China camp professionals to explore business opportunities in both countries.

Camp Study Tours

Valery and ICE hosts, Dr. Aijun Nie and Diandian Duan, then led the Russian delegation for further camp visits and study tours in Nanjing, Guangzhou and Hainan.

Camp Life Achievement Program

Meanwhile Jorgi and Ruth travelled and concentrated on the development of a new and novel program of ICF – Camp Life Achievement. This program is the first of its kind for ICF as it is designed to reach children, young people and families to explain and promote bringing ‘Camp to Life’. The program is being piloted in China and the current work is to gather like-minded sponsors, camps, educators and organizations to join in this important initiative.

Teaching and Learning!

Jorgi and Ruth met with potential partners in Beijing, Weifang, Nanjing and Guangzhou.  They also addressed a master’s class in tourism management at South China Normal University.
