Global Opportunities: Australia Launches New International Volunteer Program

The International Camping Fellowship (ICF) is excited to share a significant development from our colleagues at the Australian Camps Association (ACA). For those in our global community looking to strengthen international ties or for young leaders seeking life-changing experiences abroad, a new compliant pathway to the Australian bush has officially opened.

A New Gateway to Australian Camping

The ACA has been formally approved by the Australian Department of Home Affairs as a Temporary Activities Sponsor. This landmark approval paves the way for the Australian Camps International Volunteer and Cultural Exchange Program.

Designed specifically for the camp sector, this program offers a structured and legal framework for international volunteers to contribute to Australian camps under the Temporary Activity (subclass 408) visa.

Key Program Highlights

  • Cultural Exchange: Volunteers spend up to 12 months immersed in Australian camp culture, sharing their own heritage, language, and skills with young Australians.
  • Expert Partnership: The program is a collaboration between the ACA and New Ventures Worldwide (NVW). While the ACA manages sponsorship and oversight, NVW handles recruitment, screening, and ongoing pastoral care.
  • Sector-Specific Design: Unlike general visa pathways, this program is tailored to the unique needs of residential camp environments, ensuring high standards of safeguarding and supervision.

Why This Matters Globally

For the ICF community, this represents a fantastic opportunity for cross-pollination. Whether you are an international camp looking to create a “sister camp” relationship or a young professional looking to expand your horizons, this program provides a secure, organized route to experience the “Land Down Under.”

How to Get Involved
