November 9, 2024

The 28th Camp Meeting in Japan (CMJ) took place in Tokyo on November 9, 2024. Since its inception in 1997, this annual conference has aimed to share achievements in camp practice and research among professionals across Japan, fostering mutual learning and network-building.

This year’s theme, “Connections,” focused on strengthening relationships and collaboration. The event featured 10 workshops, poster sessions showcasing research, practices, and organizations, as well as a lunch session for informal networking. Approximately 140 participants and staff enjoyed the opportunity to exchange ideas and insights.

Workshop topics included a wide range of interests, such as plant ecology and culture, law and risk management, Project Adventure techniques, leveraging unique expertise, community-based activities, children’s education, careers in camping, practitioner-researcher networking, and reflections on “growth” from directors of OBJ (Outward Bound Japan) and PAJ (Project Adventure Japan).
